Facilities
The Mathematics Department Macintosh Lab is located in room M203 on the second floor of the Mathematical
Sciences Building. The lab has 32 Intel iMac 1.8GHz computers with CD-RW drives
An HP LaserJet 4100 DTN and HP Designjet 5600 are available for general printing use.
Lab Policies
The primary function of the lab is for teaching courses in Mathematics. Its facilities are available
for use by any registered UConn student, with priority given to work for Mathematics classes.
Printing Policy
Printing is free for Mathematics faculty and Mathematics graduate students.
Printing is also free for undergraduate students for work in a Mathematics course.
There is a 25 cents per page charge for non-mathematics related printing.
Double sided printing is discounted at 40 cents per page.
Software
The Lab has much usefull software for mathematical work. The list includes:
Maple (Computer algebra system)
Mathematica (Computer algebra system)
Matlab (Matrix computations)
GAP (Algebra package)
TexShop (TeX Mathematical typesetting system)
Differential Systems
Microsoft Office OS-X 2001
Access
The lab environment has been specifically designed with the teaching of our courses in mind. All of the Macintosh
computers in this lab provide a consistent user interface to courseware and application software. Public access
is available during regularly scheduled open hours.
